Who we are
CVSF (Community and Voluntary Sector Forum) is a membership organisation and an established charity. We are made up of various groups of people:
Staff. These are the people who manage the day to day activities of CVSF. Various staff members also have responsibility for specific projects that are currently underway. Their responsibilities and contact details are here >>>
Trustees. Since we are a charity we are governed by a Board of Trustees. Their job is to oversee the strategic development and the effective management of CVSF. Trustess are elected by our member organisations and are unpaid volunteers. Many of our trustees have particular skills or a career background that is particularly helpful to us.
More details are available for our board members >>>
Members. We are a membership organisation so we exist to serve our members. In turn our members elect our trustess to ensure that we are managed effectively and also managed in the best interests of the community at large.
Our members are all organisations who work in the community and voluntary sector. They are often collectively referred to as "The Third Sector" to distinguish them from the public sector (government, the civil service, local councils, etc. providing public services) and the private sector (commercial operations working for a profit).
Our directory has more details about our individual members >>>
Elected RepresentativesElected representatives. These are people from our membership organisations who are prepared to help represent the sector on local strategic parnerships. They are elected each year by the membership and are also unpaid volunteers.
A 'partnership' is where some or all of the public, private, voluntary and community sectors come together in order to work on improving the quality of life and / or services for all of those who live, work or visit the Brighton & Hove area.
