ChangeUp

Brighton and Hove's 1600 plus community and voluntary sector organisations provide a range of services and activities which support and improve the quality of life for people in the city. These 'third sector' organisations need to be supported by high quality, effective and valued services - things like information and communications, representation of the sector, ICT, training courses, resources hire and one-to-one advice.

These support services are provided by a number of organisations depending upon their skills and expertise.  Together support services providers - often referred to as infrastructure organisations - come together as the ChangeUp Consortium.

The Consortium meets in order to improve support services and develop projects that enhance the third sector in the City and enable it to flourish.

ChangeUp Consortium respond to OCS (Office for Civil Society) Consultation on 'Supporting a Stronger Civil Society December 2010

The Coalition have set out an agenda for the community and voluntary sector in their 'Big Society' vision. That the sector delivers more engagement of local people in local decision making; that the sector works more effectively with business and, that the sector becomes 'contract ready' to deliver more public sector services. This requires support for groups who want to survive and thrive in a changing environment.

The ChangeUp consortium members provide much of this support and we believe that our response sets out constructive ideas and feedback to the OCS consultation in order to protect the variety and level of community and voluntary action in our city.
