Small Grants available from The People's Health Trust

The Peoples Health Trust, set up in competition to the Big Lottery, has recently opened a small grants programme for projects delivered in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex or West Sussex. This is a relatively new source of funding.

It could potentially be of interest to a wide range of small local groups, who have an actual or projected annual turnover of £75K or less.

Funds for this programme, which offers project grants of between £5K- £10K, are derived from The People’s Health Trust’s local society lottery that has been named “Healthwise” (see
http://www.healthwishcic.org.uk/brighton-hove-and-sussex-health-causes.html)

“In deciding how the grants will be awarded the People’s Health Trust is keen to support grassroots activities targeting people at higher risk of experiencing poor health, funding activity that can show it is needed in the neighbourhoods in which it will be delivered.

To be eligible for funding, local groups will need to show that the activity that needs funding:

· aims to support an improvement in health and well being in your community;
· targets people who are at a higher risk of poor health and dying younger;
· involved the local community it serves;
· is relevant to the local community and can make a positive difference on the ground.
