Sustainable Community Strategy
A key task of the 2020 Community Partnership is to produce a Sustainable Community Strategy to improve the quality of life in Brighton and Hove. There are eight priority themes of the Strategy:
- Promoting enterprise and learning - supporting businesses to grow, encouraging investment, innovation and a healthy and sustainable economy and actively promoting learning & training opportunities for people of all ages, including especially children and young people.
- Reducing crime and improving safety - so that people can feel safe and at ease by reducing crime and fear of crime (especially violent crime in a public place), anti-social behaviour and by tackling drug and alcohol related crime.
- Improving health and well-being - promoting healthy lifestyles, treating illnesses, providing care and support and reducing inequalities in health.
- Strengthening communities and involving people - so that communities are strong, inclusive and involved and have opportunities to influence decision-making.
- Improving housing and affordability - with a wide choice of decent housing to meet people's need for a stable home.
- Promoting resource efficiency and enhancing the environment - creating a place to live that's clean, attractive, and has accessible open space and countryside.
- Promoting sustainable transport - with a co-ordinated transport system that balances the needs of all users and minimises damage to the environment.
- Providing quality services - a place that has easy to use, approachable, high quality, seamless services.
